RickCollier > Looking past the towers and glacis of Karak Castle, one can see the town of Karak beyond. The Glacis was a particular finished face leading to the battlements, built to be too steep to climb and so making the Castle nearly impregnible from this side. Karak's glacis was the scene of particular cruelty by the last crusader lord, which led directly to the castle being conquered by Saladin.
