RickCollier > Sand drifts high in the pathways and across what used to be the boardwalk at Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, USA, in the wake of a major Atlantic northeast storm ("nor'easter") that arose from the remnants of Hurricane Ida in November, 2009. The storm brought in exceptionally high tides and waves that flooded many beach communities, but in Rehoboth mainly rearranged the beach sand and dunes.

RickCollier > Nile River, Esna, Egypt -- Vendors and merchants in small boats hawk their wares to passengers on cruise ships stopping at Esna, where the ships must wait in turn to pass through the locks at the dam there. Vendors in small boats at Esna throw their goods to passengers aboard ships, who then shout negotiations and either return the goods or throw back the money. The vendors are not permitted aboard the ships, and the ship crews work to prevent any boats from tying up to the ships. © Rick Collier / RickCollier.com.

RickCollier > Luxor, Egypt -- Sphinxes line both sides of the road approaching Luxor Temple. The road originally extended all the way between Karnak and Luxor temples. Luxor temple was built principally by two pharoahs, Ramses II and Amenhotep III, and was the companion temple to Karnak for worship of the Theban triad of gods, Amun, his wife Mut, and their son Khonsu. While Karnak was the home of Amun, his wife Mut and son Khonsu resided at Luxor. © Rick Collier / RickCollier.com.
